Equinor and its partners have discovered gas at the Gullfaks South field, 190 kilometres northwest of Bergen, with recoverable resources estimated at 0.5 million to 1.6 million standard cubic metres of oil equivalent, or 3.3 million to 10.3 million barrels of oil equivalent.
“It is very positive that it is possible to make discoveries
of this size with such cost-effective exploration wells. These will be
profitable barrels that can help maintain activity and production on the
Gullfaks field," said Gunnar Egge, Equinor’s vice president for the
Gullfaks field.
The well was drilled by the Askeladden rig as a sidetrack
from a production well.
The discovery lies within the Gullfaks production licence,
owned by Equinor, Petoro and OMV. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
