Global energy technology company SLB has signed a 15-year agreement with TotalEnergies to deploy its DrillPlan well planning and engineering solutions, supporting the French energy major’s transition to a digital planning environment.
The agreement aims to connect subsurface insights with well
planning and engineering, enabling teams to improve collaboration and
streamline well construction processes through an integrated digital platform.
SLB’s DrillPlan solutions will combine offset well data,
trajectory designs, casing and completion inputs, and planning assumptions,
allowing cross-functional teams to work from a common foundation of information
throughout the well construction process.
“Operators are increasingly looking for scalable
technologies that can support more consistent planning decisions across large
and diverse portfolios,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of SLB’s Digital
business. “This agreement demonstrates how customers are moving toward digital
solutions that improve consistency, strengthen collaboration and provide a
foundation for future workflow innovation.”
Drawing on the expertise of both companies, the digital
environment is designed to connect workflows, integrate customised processes
and scale across operations, while supporting the ongoing deployment of new
technologies.
The agreement reflects a broader industry shift towards
scalable, interoperable digital platforms that combine established customer
workflows with enterprise-wide systems.
It also highlights growing efforts to integrate specialised
engineering expertise with commercial digital solutions to improve planning
consistency, operational resilience and well construction execution.
The collaboration marks another step in SLB and
TotalEnergies’ digital partnership, with the platform intended to support
future workflow innovation across the operator’s well planning activities. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
