The International Energy Forum (IEF) has welcomed EDF power solutions to its Industry Advisory Council (IAC), strengthening industry representation in global discussions on energy security, electricity systems and the energy transition.

EDF power solutions, a subsidiary of EDF Group, operates across Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The company develops, builds, operates and maintains renewable and low-carbon power projects, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and hybrid systems.

Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary General of the IEF, said: "We are delighted to welcome EDF power solutions to the IEF Industry Advisory Council. As the world electrifies at pace and invests in greater system resilience, the practical experience of leading renewable and power system developers is essential to informed global dialogue. EDF power solutions brings deep expertise in large scale clean energy deployment, grid integration, and hybrid solutions that complement our broader mandate to support secure, affordable, and inclusive energy transitions."

The IAC connects policymakers with industry leaders, advising the IEF Secretary General and Executive Board on developments across the energy value chain.

Its contributions help ensure ministerial discussions reflect operational realities in hydrocarbons, electricity, renewables, low-carbon fuels and emerging technologies.

Luc Koechlin, CEO Middle East of EDF power solutions, said: "We are honored to join the Industry Advisory Council of the International Energy Forum. In a world facing complex energy challenges, collaboration between industry and policymakers is more critical than ever. At EDF power solutions, we are committed to building a net-zero energy future through innovation and partnership. We look forward to contributing our global experience in renewable energy, grid modernization, and energy services to the vital dialogue hosted by the IEF, and working with fellow council members to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future."

Through the council, EDF power solutions will share expertise on expanding renewable capacity, integrating variable generation, scaling energy storage and strengthening electricity system reliability.

The collaboration comes amid rising electricity demand driven by digitalisation, electrification and economic growth, alongside geopolitical uncertainty, investment constraints and rapid technological change.

The IEF provides a neutral platform for governments, industry leaders and other stakeholders to exchange views on energy security, market stability and transition pathways.

By bringing together producers and consumers, the organisation seeks to improve transparency, encourage cooperation and support secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems.

EDF power solutions’ participation reinforces the IEF’s efforts to incorporate industry experience into policymaking and ensure global energy dialogue reflects the growing role of renewables, storage and integrated power systems. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
