"This is giant drill is an important technical innovation for the entire Middle East," said Samir Ghalaini, chairman of Adrico, the company that built the drill.
At a cost of $15 million, the drill has a power of two-thousand horses and is the first in the world to use a hydraulic cylinder in the lifting process, he said.
The company will deliver a similar drill to Saudi Arabia, he added.
