Abu Dhabi Company For Onshore Oil Operations (Adco)
The Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco) operates onshore and in shallow coastal water of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi.
The original concession agreement was signed in January 1939 with Petroleum Development (Trucial Coast).
In 1962, the Company became known as the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company Ltd. (ADPC), and in 1979, it became known as the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco).
The Company operates and produces oil mainly from five fields Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, Sahil and Shah.
These fields are linked to the storage and shipping facilities located at Jabel Dhana, where tankers load crude oil for export to markets in various parts of the world. Carries out the activities of exploration, production, development and export of crude oil and natural gas materials extracted from the concession area operated on behalf of its shareholders.
Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco)
Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco), is a pioneering oil and gas producer whose operations date back to the 1950s, and are centred in the offshore areas of Abu Dhabi.
Oil and gas production comes from two major fields Umm Shaif and Zakum. The crude is collected from these fields using giant steel structures called supercomplexes, and then transferred to Das Island, a nearby industrial base, for processing, storing and world export.
The first oil discovery in Abu Dhabi was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif and the first oil shipment exported from Abu Dhabi to the world market came out on July 4, 1962 from the same field.
Over the years, the company adopted the latest in drilling techniques and technologies, starting with vertical, then deviated and ultimately horizontal drilling.
Zakum Development Company (Zadco)
Zadco was established in 1977 to develop and operate the Upper Zakum Field, one of the largest oil fields in the world, on behalf of Adnoc and Japan Oil Development Company (Jodco).
The development of the Upper Zakum reservoirs is considered to be one of the major technical achievements in Abu Dhabi. Besides Upper Zakum, the company currently operates Umm Al Dalkh, and Satah fields. Crude oil from Upper Zakum, Umm Al Dalkh and Satah field is pumped via main oil lines to Zirku Island for further processing, storage and to be exported.
The company adopts the latest technologies in developing and operating these oil fields, with health, safety and environment concerns in mind, making it one of the leading operating companies in the oil industry in the UAE.
National Drilling Company (NDC)
NDC is the first venture among Adnoc Group of Companies.
It was established in May 1972 to handle drilling operations required for exploration and field development as well as undertaking work-over and maintenance operations in both onshore and offshore areas. NDC became a wholly owned subsidiary of Adnoc in 1978.
NDC has successfully carried out all drilling operations requirements and played an important role in the discovery of oil and gas in Abu Dhabi.
The National
Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC)
The National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), a public joint stock, was established in April 1973.
NPCC facilities are currently located at Mussafah, which were constructed during 1993-94. They include a new modern fabrication yard capable of producing 67,000 tonnes of fabricated steel structures per year and pipe-coating plants for coal, concrete, fusion bonded epoxy, polypropylene coatings.
NPCC owns and operates an extensive marine fleet capable of lifting single structures weighing up to 2,000 tonnes and laying submarine pipelines up to 60 inches in diameter.
Today, NPCC offers comprehensive services as a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for onshore and offshore oil, gas and petrochemical industry.

Production and marketing of mud chemicals, material handling services, waste management, speciality chemicals blending, operating, chartering or leasing specialised vessels.
Abu Dhabi
Petroleum Ports Operating Company (Irshad)
Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Company was incorporated in 1977 to operate all petroleum and industrial ports in Abu Dhabi and to provide maintenance operations, safety and diving services.
Irshad operates the oil terminals and ports of Jabel Dhanna, Ruwais, Umm AI Nar, Das Island, Zirku, and Mubarraz Islands.The company also carries out maintenance work on Adma-Opco's single point moorings and Zadco's oil terminals. It also helps, whenever necessary, in combating oil pollution in petroleum ports.
Irshad owns vessels of various types, as it specified and supervised the building of most of its vessels to ensure they were built to highest standards for their vital tasks.
Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Limited (Gasco)
Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (Gasco) is the operating company in Abu Dhabi responsible for processing associate and non-associate gas from onshore oil production.
The company began as a joint venture incorporated in 1978 with ownership shared between Adnoc, TotalFinaElf, Shell Abu Dhabi and Partex.
In April 2001, Abu Dhabi gas company (Atheer) was integrated with Gasco, which lead to further enhancement to Gasco's position as one of the largest gas processing companies in the world and one of the biggest industrial projects in the UAE.
Gasco convents the previously flared oil by-products into different marketable forms of clean energy. Processing takes place in its four plants at Asab, Habshan/Bab, Bu Hasa, and Ruwais. A network of pipelines transport part of the processed NGL to Ruwais.

These three products are stored in special tanks to later ship them to the world via the loading jetty at Ruwais Plant.
Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Limited (Adgas)
Adgas was established in 1973 to turn gas, extracted from Abu Dhabi's offshore field crude oil, into a new source of marketable energy. The fact that gases are no longer used as fuel for oil field flares has impacted positively on the environment.
Immediately after the establishment of the company, a plant, the first of its kind in the Middle East, was built with an annual designed capacity of 2.5 million tonnes to produce LNG, in addition to 800,000 tonnes per year of LPG.
In March 1977, Adgas was re-incorporated as a national entity in Abu Dhabi. The first shipment of LNG left Das Island that same year.
Due to the plant's success in satisfying customer requirements, another agreement was signed with Tepco in 1990 allowing Adgas to double its production in 1994 and the Japanese company to import its production for another 25 years.
As a result, the third LNG Train, the largest of its kind in the world, was built adding another 2.5 million tonnes annually to the plant's production and doubling capacity. The train, which was completed in 1994, incorporates the latest technologies, making it one of the most advanced in the world. Its compliance with safety standards has enhanced the company's international reputation.
Abu Dhabi Oil
Refining Company (Takreer)
A public shareholding company Takreer has been established in Abu Dhabi.
Its area of operation includes refining of crude oil, salt, chlorine and petroleum condensates, sulphur treatment, mixing of petroleum products or any other activities.
Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertil)
Ruwais Fertilizer Industries was established in October 1980 as joint venture between Adnoc and TotalFinaElf, which hold shares in the company in the ratio of 2:1 respectively.
Construction activities began in 1980 and production started in 1983. The prime objective behind establishing the company was to utilise lean gas supplied from onshore field of Bab, Asab and Thamama C to produce fertilisers and market them locally and internationally.
Plant facilities are located in Ruwais Industrial Area.
Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Limited (Borouge)
The Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd was established in 1998 to manufacture and sell polyethylene for use in technically demanding applications primarily in the flexible and rigid packaging and construction industries.
Borouge is a joint venture owned by Adnoc & Borealis, Europe's leading producer of polyolefins.
Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (Adnatco)
The Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adnoc, established for the transportation of crude oil, refined products, petrochemical products, gas and associated petroleum products.
It owns and operates a fleet of seven crude and products tankers, a molten sulphur carrier and a bunkering vessel. Adnatco vessels trade worldwide for international customers including major oil companies.
National Gas Shipping Company (NGSCO)
The National Gas Shipping Company Ltd was established and registered in the British Virgin Islands in December 1993.
The company operates a fleet of eight modern 135,000 tonne LNG ships and charters LNG, LPG and sulfur ships to transport Adgas's products to Japan and other parts of the world. It also provides Adgas with marine expertise.
Adnoc Distribution
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (Adnoc-FOD) was established in 1973 as the first government-owned company specialised in marketing and distribution of petroleum products in the UAE.
Adnoc Distribution operates a vast network of filling stations covering all areas of the UAE. The company's fuel products are distributed by its own fleet of load tankers in addition to pipelines for transporting petroleum products to the main depots.
