

The Republic of Comoro Islands and KGL Ports International (KGL PI) have signed a contract for the construction of the Moroni port in the republic.
The contract signing ceremony took place at the Bayan palace during a visit made by Ahmad Abdullah Sambi, President of the Republic of Comoro Islands to Kuwait.
Ahmad bin Saeed Jaffar, the Comoro’s Minister of Foreign Relations and Cooperation signed the contract on behalf of the Republic of Comoro Islands while Mohamed Al-Mazeedi, chairman and chief executive officer signed on behalf of KGL PI.
Fadhel Al-Baghli, the deputy chairman and Mohannad Al-Qazweeni, business development manager of KGL PI attended the ceremony. Shaikh Sabah Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah, the chairman of Comoro holding company and Bashar Kaiwan, the chief executive were present in this occasion.
The contract signing ceremony was also attended by Ahmad Al-Klaib, Kuwait’s ambassador to Egypt and its representative to the Arab league as well as by Neilan Mehji the Minister of Energy of Comoros.
According to the BOT-based contract, KGL PI will construct, equip, mange and invest the Comoro’s port in conformity with the state-of-the-art international technology standards.
KGL PI is a Kuwait-based company with core business in sea ports management and has recently announced the completion of Saqr port at Ras Al Khaimah, the official opening ceremony of which is scheduled for March.
The company has also signed a concession agreement with Damietta Port Authority for a 40-year concession for the development of a new container terminal in the port. The ground breaking ceremony of this port is scheduled for April.
Currently the company enjoys a multitude of technical, financial and manpower resources coupled with cutting edge expertise in the sea port industry which the company harmonised to achieve a forefront position in this field.
