Iraq’s Oil Ministry has awarded the country’s first post war $136 million oilfield development contract to UK, Turkish and Iraqi firms, Iraq’s Oil Ministry Undersecretary Ahmed Al Shammaa has said.
Shammaa said the Khormala Dome oilfield, north of Iraq’s oil rich city of Kirkuk, was awarded to a consortium of three companies namely Britain’s DPS, Turkey’s Everasia and Iraq’s KAR.
“We have invited the winning companies to sign the contract,” Shammaa said.
OGI Group, a privately held exploration, development and oil field service company, had been successful in its tender to develop the Himrin field, and was awaiting final approval when it was told of the new bidding round, the executive said.
