AMPO Poyam Valves, a world leader in engineering valves, has officially opened its new valve manufacturing and servicing plant, AMPO Arabia, in Dammam 2nd Industrial City.
 
Covering 5,000 sq m of area, the factory will offer valve assembly, testing, painting and servicing facilities.
 
It also supports AMPO’s commitment to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) local content programme.
 
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Jorge Hevia, Ambassador of Spain, Hatim Zaher, Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia, Bader Al Reziza, Chairman of the Board of the Eastern Chamber of Commerce, local partner, Dar Massader, together with representatives of companies such as, Aramco, NPCC, Modon, CAT Contracting, Nesma, RTCC, Petronash, SWCC, KBR, SADC, NWWC, AHQ, Zeeco, WE Energy and Saudi Mechanical Industries, amongst others.
 
AMPO ARABIA will enable AMPO to transfer global top-tier technology and knowhow to the Saudi market, expand national industry capacity and drive economic growth and development in the region.
 
Being closer to customers, the local facility will positively impact local delivery lead times and aftersales services to meet demands of current and future projects.
 
AMPO Arabia, an extension of the main manufacturing plant in Spain, follows a similar structure, technical and operational capabilities, and rotation of key personnel to ensure consistency and product quality. 
 
Ibon Imaz, AMPO’s Managing Director, said AMPO Arabia is just a start and will be followed by further business opportunities and investments that can add higher value to the Saudi economy.

AMPO POYAM VALVES has been collaborating with customers in Saudi Arabia since 1998, and has through the years supplied more than 20,000 valves for strategic projects, such as Jubail, Yanbu, Ras Tanura, Rabigh, Khursaniyah, Marjan Field Expansion, Berri Field Development, Abqaia project, etc. 
 
Salah Elkadiki, AMPO ARABIA’s Managing Director, noted: “The new factory will allow AMPO to offer a wide range of highly-engineered custom made gate, globe, check and ball valves and best-in-class services and technologies for the local and GCC region energy industry, covering applications in the oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical, water, mining and power sectors.”
 
AMPO’s local service team will guarantee a prompt response to customer needs in terms of technical support in start-up stages, commissioning, engineered solutions, equipment selection, preventive and predictive maintenance, etc.
 
Regarding job creation, Elkadiki said: “We are creating quality job opportunities for Saudi nationals through our extensive training and development programmes.” --OGN
