TotalEnergies and CMA CGM Group, a global player in sea, land, air and logistics solutions, have agreed to develop a 50/50 logistics joint venture to implement and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker supply solution at Rotterdam’s port, in the Netherlands.
The partnership aims to accelerate the energy transition in the maritime sector.
A new 20,000-cu-m LNG bunker vessel will be positioned in Rotterdam by the end of 2028, offering a complete logistics service from reload access to LNG bunker delivery to vessels operating in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.
The joint venture will leverage TotalEnergies’ logistics infrastructure in the ARA region, where the LNG bunker vessel Gas Agility has been in operation since 2020.
The partnership aims to enhance delivery flexibility and operational efficiency across the region. TotalEnergies will supply CMA CGM with up to 360,000 tonnes of LNG annually from 2028 onwards and until 2040, supporting CMA CGM’s goal of reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and ensuring the supply of its dual-fuel LNG-powered fleet.
