BACKGROUND
PDO plans for the development of a Budour-Tayseer sour gas processing facility that will process sour gas from the Budour and Tayseer fields.
The facility will have a processing capacity of 78.39 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) of gas and unstabilised condensate of 1,167 cubic meters a day (cm/d).
The facility will also handle gas exports of 70 million cf/d, stabilised condensate exports of 950 cm/d, and a water handling capacity of 340 cm/d.
The project will also expand the capacity of the existing gas production and processing facility at Tayseer, which represents the second development phase of the gas field, and produce sweet gas from the Budour field.
PROJECT SCOPE
The scope of work includes an inlet production/test manifold, well testing, and inlet separation, along with a sour gas processing facility incorporating export gas compressors, sulfur recovery and storage, crude de-salting, condensate stabilisation, condensate storage and export, and produced water treatment.
It also covers storage, export, and raw water treatment facilities with associated plant infrastructure, as well as instrumentation and control systems.
The project includes drilling new production wells at Tayseer, with output processed at the Budour gas processing facility, and additional wells at Budour, with production routed to the planned sour gas processing facility.
The off-plot units to be executed by PDO include wellhead hook-ups, sour gas flowlines from wellheads to on-plot facilities, a remote manifold station at the Tayseer field, a wash water distribution network from on-plot boundaries to production wellheads, a sour gas production pipeline from Tayseer to Budour, a sweet gas export pipeline to the Salalah gas line, a condensate export pipeline to the main oil line, and a produced water pipeline to the Marmul water treatment plant in southeastern Oman for further processing and deep-water disposal.
It also includes a raw water supply line from water supply wells to the on-plot facility and an electrical overhead line from the PDO grid to the DBOOM facility.
The gas processing facility will have a capacity of 78.39 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) and 1,167 cubic meters per day (cm/d) of unstabilised condensate, handling gas exports of about 70 million cf/d, stabilised condensate exports of 950 cm/d, and a water handling capacity of 340 cm/d.
PROJECT STATUS
As of June 2026, the procurement is also underway. SPETCO has placed multiple major orders for the project.
PROJECT FINANCE
Budour-Tayseer sour gas processing facility will be owned by the company that wins the design, build, own, operate, and maintain (DBOOM) contract.
