Endress+Hauser showcased its innovation performance at the 2026 Innovators’ Meeting in Basel, reporting 294 initial patent applications filed worldwide in 2025, 41 new products, and €281.4 million ($322 million) in research and development (R&D) investment.
The company’s intellectual property portfolio now includes more than 9,400 active patents and applications, reflecting sustained technological expansion.
The annual Innovators’ Meeting, held for the 25th time in 2026 following its launch in 2001, brings together engineers and inventors from across the group.
Of the original 101 participants, 35 remain active, and 15 filed patents again in 2025, while 89 new inventors joined the process for the first time.
R&D spending rose to €281.4 million, up 2.1 per cent year on year, representing 7.0 per cent of sales, with the slight ratio decrease attributed to accounting effects from the acquisition of the gas instrumentation business from Endress+Hauser SICK.
More than 1,300 employees work in dedicated research and development roles.
Innovation efforts focus on sustainability, digitalisation, and software-based solutions, including cloud applications and AI-driven tools.
The company also introduced an Ecodesign & Circularity Award in 2025 to recognise environmentally efficient and resource-saving innovations, alongside advances in measurement and material analysis technologies.
“The Innovators’ Meeting highlights just how much expertise, creativity, teamwork and perseverance go into our products,” said Dr Mirko Lehmann, Chief Technology Officer of the Endress+Hauser Group.
“Our innovative strength thrives on the collaboration between experienced and new inventors. Endress+Hauser’s long-term focus and values-based culture create an environment where experience is passed on and new ideas can flourish,” said Dr Christine Koslowski, Director of Intellectual Property Rights at Endress+Hauser.
