Rompetrol’s 75,000 barrels per day Petromidia refinery in Navodari, Romania, will complete a $3.5 million upgrade by mid-December to produce ultra low sulphur diesel, a company official said.
The Petromidia plant, on the Romanian Black Sea coast, is also expanding its crude distillation capacity to an anticipated 88,000 bpd by the end of next year, the official said.
The refinery can already produce 350 parts per million (ppm) sulphur diesel to meet Romanian standards for 2005, though the company exports 50 per cent of its fuel output to European markets that are moving to cleaner fuels next year.
