Saudi Aramco has signed a contract with the Shuwayer Group of Companies that, for the first time, requires 100 per cent Saudisation.

The 15-year contract covers 40 cranes of 50-to-200-tonne capacity that will be used on Saudi Aramco projects throughout the Kingdom.
Amer Al-Sulaim, executive director of Industrial Services, signed the contract. He pointed out that it is the first time in Saudi Aramco's history that the huge cranes will be run by contractors.
The contract, he said, is an example of Saudi Aramco's Strategic Direction of supporting the economy and helping local companies grow.
The contractor will provide the cranes and Saudi operators, supervisors and maintenance crew members. The contractor also will train team members based on their job requirements.
Shuwayer's representative said the company would provide the best service because it knows Saudi Aramco has high standards.
He also said training would be conducted at the company's center in Dammam.
Shuwayer will increase the number of Saudi trainers in hopes of fulfilling their commitment to contribute to the development of the local economy by providing job opportunities.
This contract represents the start of assigning all heavy crane operations to private-sector contractors.
Old cranes owned by Saudi Aramco will be replaced gradually by cranes that meet new specifications.
