Saudi Perlite Industry was established in 1984. It is a 100 per cent Saudi-owned company based in Riyadh.
The company is engaged in the manufacture of expanded perlite for deferent applications.
Special grade of expanded perlite has been developed and is in regular use at gas and petroleum refineries in the Gulf.
CRYOLITE is mainly used in the cryogenic insulation for cold box, low temperature storage tanks and cryogenic vessel insulations.
Quality standards are widely accepted by the world renowned companies such us Linde, LinArCo, Air-Products, Willich, Cape East, Saudi Aramco, NIGC, Yanpet and Petrokemya.
Saudi Perlite Industry, with the expertise in the manufacture of expanded perlite has added a portable expander machine with pumping and internal vibrating system.
Saudi Perlite is the only industry having this portable expander unit the country.
In order to take advantage of a better quality product, it has decided to process the product at site and directly pump to place making the insulation more homogeneous.
Its production capacity is 15 to 20 cubic metres of expanded perlite per hour.
The density of the final product meets the requirements of Perlite Institute Specifications.
Saudi Perlite is a member of Perlite Institute USA and an ISO 9000-2001 certified company. The staff has the expertise in manufacturing all types of perlite products for newer applications.
Perlite based filter-aid under the trade name of HIFLORITE is recently introduced in the market and well accepted by the beverage industries, silicate industries etc.
CRYOLITE is used for Cryogenic Applications:
• Storage temperatures of [-150OF(-100°C)] and above to [+40OF(+4°C)] are considered low temperature.
• Storage temperatures of [-150oF(-100°C)] and below are considered cryogenic.
• Super cold or extremely cold cryogenic fluids such as hydrogen and helium are normally stored in spherical, double walled vessels with evacuated annular spaces using evacuated perlite. [- 150 deg F (- 100 deg C)]
Properties of CRYOLITE
CRYOLITE insulation suitable for non-evacuated cryogenic or low temperature use exhibits low thermal conductivity throughout a range of densities; however, the normal recommended density range is 48 to 72 kg/m3.
In addition to its excellent thermal properties, CRYOLITE insulation is relatively low in cost, easy to handle and install, noncombustible and meets fire regulations, lowers insurance rates, does not shrink, swell, warp or slump.
Because it is an inorganic material, it is rot and vermin proof. As a result of its closed cell structure, the material does not retain moisture.
Typical Non-evacuated Installation
There are many different design concepts for low temperature and cryogenic storage vessels. However, most are of double wall construction with the annulus filled with CRYOLITE. Packaged or bulk perlite may be used to insulate smaller vessels by pouring or blowing the insulation in place.
Saudi Perlites' Portable Expander Machine with in-build Pneumatic Conveying and Pumping system is very convenient to insulate storage tanks, cold boxes, ships, and other double wall vessels and pipes.
In these applications, perlite ore is expanded on-site and CRYOLITE is conveyed pneumatically into the annulus.
