Background
As part of the North Field Expansion (NFE) program, the project includes the fourth onshore package which involving the sulphur-handling facilities.
Project Status
As of June 2024, IRIS Construction has completed over 50 per cent of its work on the project. The company expects to finalize the testing and handover of the facilities to Tecnicas Reunidas by mid-2025, ahead of the commissioning stage
Project Scope
The project involves the construction of solid sulfur storage, loading facilities to process and export sulfur, new sulfur plant will with a processing capacity of 5,000 tons of molten sulfur per day, new granulators, and sulfur handling equipment.
Bedeschi's scope of work includes six-belt conveyor for a total length of 1,400 meters with a capacity of 550 tonnes per hour complete of galleries and transfer towers, four-belt conveyor for a total length of 480 meters with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes per hour complete of galleries and transfer towers, one belt conveyor for a total length of 120 meters with a capacity of 3,700 tonnes per hour complete of gallery and transfer tower, two trippers with a capacity of 550 tonnes per hour, one double-arm portal reclaimer with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes per hour, one traveling slewing ship loader with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes per hour, and one radial ship loader with a capacity of 3,700 tonnes per hour.
Project Finance
On behalf of QatarEnergy, Qatargas is the project client. On June 2022, QatarEnergy has chosen TotalEnergies, ENI, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil as the strategic partners for the project. The new shareholders are: QatarEnergy 75 per cent, TotalEnergies 6.25 per cent, ENI 3.1 per cent, ConocoPhillips 3.1 per cent, ExxonMobile 6.25 per cent, and Shell 6.25 per cent
