Background

Qatar Petroleum (QP) is planning Phase 5, Package 2, expansion at Idd el-Shargi North Dome (ISND). ISND lies in 105 ft of water. It was discovered in 1961 and went into production in 1963. Oxy operated the offshore oilfield after it signed a production sharing agreement with QP in 1994 until QP took over in October 2019. The new expansion is expected to sustain the current production of 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) for the next six years. Package 2 involves, at least, one wellhead topside, subsea pipelines and brownfield modifications required at the offshore oilfield.

Project Status

As of November 2020, construction works have commenced. In October 2020, Saipem was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project.


Project Scope

The project scope includes one wellhead topside, subsea pipelines and brownfield modifications required at the offshore oilfield. The wellhead platform is expected to be a four-legged structure with 16 slots and will be installed in 33 m of water.
