Background
OQ Gas Networks plans for a complete debottlenecking project for the South Gas Grid.
Project Scope
The scope of work includes installation of new 32' loopline (32.2 km approx.) from existing Pig Receiver area at BVS-09 to BVS-10 and Installation of 32' loopline from BVS-17 to Raysut termination point (175.6 km) on the existing 24' South Grid Gas Pipeline to Salalah including launcher and receiver traps.
Also, a new 20' gas supply line from Rabab header to the new 32' loopline at downstream of BVS-18A, a new 20' gas supply line from the new 32' loopline at BVS-22B upstream to Mirbat pipeline inlet at the Receiver A-10401 upstream bypass line with a 20' future connection, and 6 new block valve stations (BVS) on the new 32’’ loop line between BVS-17 to Raysut termination point. New 32' Loop line-2 to be connected to existing 24' pipelines at Raysut termination point.
Additionally, it includes pressure control valves on the 24' line to SGSS to let down the rich gas pressure to downstream lean gas header pressure power supply, control and telecom system (integrated system) modification for the 32' new loop lines. CP system for the new 32' looplines, new 72 core FOC cable along with 32' loop lines (BVS-9 to BVS-10, BVS-17 to Salalah GSS),and implementation of pipeline leak detection system (LDS) for the new 32' looplines (BVS-9 to BVS10, BVS-17 to Salalah GSS), LDS shall be limited to filed side instruments.
Project Status
As of July 2023, the project is progressing at a very late stage. Testing works are currently being conducted.
