Excerpts from the interview:

Given the scale of projects under way, what differentiates your company and offerings from competitors in the regional market?

An advanced smart sensor thermal camera from Teledyne FLIR

FLIR is a leader in thermal imaging and infrared camera systems, can differentiate itself from competitors in the regional market through several strategic initiatives and unique value propositions. These include:

• FLIR can leverage its advanced sensor technology to offer superior image quality and resolution compared to competitors. This can be crucial in applications requiring high precision, such as industrial and electrical inspections;

• The company continuously innovates and introduces cutting-edge products, such as the latest thermal cameras with enhanced features like Route Creator, Reference Images, Advanced Analytics, and higher sensitivity;

• We offer a wide range of products catering to various industries, including defence, industrial, public safety, and consumer applications, allowing FLIR to address diverse customer needs.

• Our comprehensive training and certification programs to ensure customers can effectively use and maintain their thermal imaging equipment can be a significant differentiator;

• Having local service centre in the UAE and providing prompt after-sales support can enhance our customer’s satisfaction and loyalty in the region.

With sustainability being a key focus, how do your company’s products and services help the region further its green goals?

FLIR’s customers are using our technology and solutions for large-scale contributions to environmental improvements, including the visualisation of greenhouse gases; the research, study, and preservation of fauna and flora; and a host of other environmental phenomena.

For example, FLIR Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras can detect -- in real time -- leaks of environmentally hazardous gases such as methane, sulfur hexafluoride, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and refrigerants. The cameras help our customers to significantly reduce the amounts of environmentally harmful gases that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.

What are your long-term plans for expanding your business in the region?

We have been periodically strengthening the network of authorized distributors and resellers to increase our market penetration and accessibility. We will be also keep participating in regional trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences to showcase FLIR's latest technologies and build brand awareness.

As the region invests more in the energy sector, there’s a growing need for maintenance and inspection solutions for solar and wind farms in addition to electricity transmission and distribution lines, which can be addressed by FLIR’s thermal cameras.

How has business been for your company over the past year? Have there been any significant developments at your company recently?

Over the past year, FLIR Systems has experienced a dynamic business environment with several significant developments in the region.

Early this year, FLIR announced the expansion of its versatile Si-Series of acoustic imaging cameras with three models in the new Si2 family, designed for detecting compressed air leaks, specialty gas leaks, mechanical faults, and partial discharge. Recently, FLIR and UE Systems have announced a partnership focusing on acoustic imaging, condition monitoring and energy savings. The agreement will enable the two companies to develop ultrasonic imaging solutions for the manufacturing, processing and utilities sectors.
