New service to carry drilling tools for repair

DHL has become to be recognised within the Middle East as being one of the Logistics Company of choice within the oil and gas Industry, with imminent plans to expand their trucking service.

Their “Can do Attitude” of being able to provide solutions when their customers are faced with service issues is quite amazing.
An example of DHL solution provision was when DHL customers were faced with poor service levels of moving drilling tools into Yemen mainly because of the lack of freight uplift on commercial carriers.
DHL, who offer Express LTL trucking solutions throughout the Middle East extended their service offering to include Yemen on a scheduled weekly basis. Since inception the service has been running at full capacity and DHL has recently announced it is just about to increase the number of weekly rotations in and out of Yemen.
The DHL Express Trucking LTL Network runs daily services to Dhahran, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Egypt.
Expansion plans
Again after discussions with its customers DHL has trialed and successfully tested an LTL truck solution from the Middle East to Europe carrying oil and gas drilling tools for repair and return. Due to the nature of size and length of this equipment the customers where paying a high price to move this equipment for repair as they were taking up 2/3 pallet positions on an aircraft which effectively can double if not triple the price.
The DHL Express truck solution to Europe or on its existing Middle East Network offers its customers to pay on the actual weight of the shipment that they send. The service will operate from its Middle East Hub in Bahrain to its European Hub located in Brussels. Shipments destined for repair vendors in Belgium, Manchester or any other location within Europe will move on the DHL network from Brussels on a door to door basis.
Express service
DHL has been proving the Middle East oil and gas industry express inbound/outbound document and parcel services since 1976. Within the Middle East DHL owns and operates 20 of its own aircraft providing overnight services to the following countries: UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Iran and Yemen.
With one unique Middle East account number DHL customers can send and receive shipments with the benefit of paying in your local currency.
Doing business in Iraq?
From its Middle East hub in Bahrain DHL has been flying up to 3/4 flight rotations per day to Baghdad and Mosul for the past 16 months. In capacity terms DHL has 2-250 tonnes of uplift into Iraq each day.
At the DHL airside facility at Baghdad airport they operate 2 aircraft within Iraq on a thrice weekly schedule covering the following destinations: Mosul, Kirkuk, Talil, Basra, Tikrit, Al Assad, Al Takadum and Bilad.
Despite the small amount of oil and gas corporate activity in Iraq, once the market opens its doors, DHL is looking to provide a tailor made logistics solution.
