GeoLab is a dedicated and innovative marine contractor providing survey and positioning and construction support services to the international marine market.

The company was established in 1993 in Italy and in 1992 it was incorporated into the Diamar Group of Companies, a well-established offshore vessel owner and operator.
The company recently established base in Abu Dhabi to serve the regional market, mainly the Dolphin project.
GeoLab has plans to set up a branch in Bahrain and a logistic base (including data processing and workshop facilities) in Abu Dhabi.
Since inception the company has established itself as marine survey contractor with a reputation for delivering quality results through proven technology and innovative solutions.
“It is our policy to provide products and services of the highest standard, tailored to each individual customer requirements, thereby ensuring total customer satisfaction,” says Carlo Pinto, commercial manager, GeoLab Abu Dhabi.
It provides turnkey services, including marine geophysics, geology and geotechnics, applied oceanography, underwater inspections, construction support and environmental surveying primarily to the offshore oil and gas, submarine cabling, port and coastal, marine defence and underwater archaeology industries.
GeoLab says it implements quality management system within the scope of ISO 9000 and is currently in the process of being certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18002 by DNV.
The company also operates a number of vessels ranging from near shore survey boats to offshore DP support vessels to survey vessels with hull mounted underwater positioning systems and swathe bathymetry capabilities.
“As a further commitment to our policy of continuous improvement, we have recently joined the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) for both offshore survey and marine divisions. This will guarantee a constant exchange of knowledge and experiences at the highest level will all main marine and survey international operators.”
In the Middle East, the company has achieved a considerable track record undertaking over 18000 hours of safe and successful offshore operations.
GeoLab is a nominated subcontractor for Saipem involved in the Dolphin Pipeline Installation Project, both in Qatar and the UAE.
It is currently providing an in-house owned DP Class 2 vessel for the installation of 45-tonne crossing support along with specialist survey positioning services both surface and subsurface.
Some of its recent/ongoing projects include utilising DP 1 survey support vessel “Sentinel” for the installation and grouting of clamps at crossings of the sea lines and export pipeline both in Qatar and UAE waters for Saipem.
It is also providing aqua diving services with positioning services in support of the inshore trenching operations at Ras Laffan shore approach (Qatar) for Nexans A/S umbilical installation programme on the Dolphin project.
GeoLab has recently completed another Dolphin project related subcontract for submersible television systems providing survey services onboard the DP-II “Gulmar Eagle” for the undertaking of ROV pre lay surveys and precise positioning during the installation of crossing structures in support of Nexans A/S umbilical installation programme.
