Abu Dhabi National Tanker Co (Adnatco) said it plans to invest up to $500 million to double its fleet of crude and products tankers to 22 by 2010.
“We need bulk carriers, tankers and small bunkering ships to meet the growing demand for our products that are exported to various markets in and around the region,” Adel Jebara Albufalah, commercial division manager of Adnatco, said.
“Adnatco will have at least 22 vessels of different types by 2010. We are talking to various manufacturers including Korean companies,” he said. Currently, Adnatco has eight crude and products tankers, one molten sulphur carrier and two vessels for heavy loads.
Adnatco, a subsidiary of state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Co, transports crude oil and petroleum products.
