ExxonMobil produ-ced 110,000 barrels per day of crude oil in Abu Dhabi last year.
This is the highest since the company secured an onshore concession 40 years ago, a top company official said.
By 2010, the Middle East would account for 20 per cent of the company’s total global investments in the upstream oil and gas sector, an official said.
“The Middle East is expanding in the global oil and gas sector with exploration opportunities increasing in the region,” Richard Brown, Middle East area manager of ExxonMobil, said.
“We will continually enhance investments in this region and by 2010, at least 20 per cent of our upstream investments will be in this region,” Brown said.
The company has 9.5 per cent equity in the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco).
“ExxonMobil had a net production of 110,000 barrels per day of oil in Abu Dhabi during 2003, which was associated with the highest annual gross production rate since the first oil exports from the onshore concession began 40 years ago,” Brown added.
