The Plant Department provides cost effective marine vessels

The NPCC Plant Department plays a key role in supporting the company's onshore and offshore operations by providing equipment, installations and manned/unmanned marine vessels which are efficient, cost effective, safe and compliant.

The Department has grown with NPCC, both physically and in terms of technological knowhow and expertise in equipment and services for handling complicated projects.

When NPCC was established on Saadiyat Island, the Plant Department had a staff of just 30, looking after a total of 125 pieces of equipment and no vessels/marine barges.

A quarter of a century on and the Department is now a team of 423, situated in modern offices with a marine fleet of seven manned vessels, six unmanned cargo/launch barges and purpose-built workshop facilities. The Department is also entrusted with a fleet of more than 1,800 pieces of equipment plus a wide variety of electronic equipment (2,375 units), miscellaneous service equipment (2,166 units).

The Plant Department carries out, in-house, 95 per cent of all major overhauls to engines, transmissions, torque converters, electric generators/motors/welding machines and complete undecking and rebuilding of crawler/hydraulic rough terrain cranes, all in a flexible schedule, to accommodate rapidly changing Yard/NPCC Offshore Department work programmes.

This in-house capability guarantees quick response to onshore/offshore repair locations and prioritisation of repair requirements.
