Adnoc has launched a global liquefied natural gas (LNG) marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), integrating the commercial activities of Adnoc Gas, XRG and Adnoc Trading into a unified structure aimed at strengthening global LNG operations.
The platform is designed to enhance flexibility, shipping
optionality and customer access as Adnoc expands its LNG portfolio, including
the Ruwais LNG project, while supporting XRG’s international gas and
infrastructure growth.
It also builds on Adnoc’s long-standing role as a global LNG
supplier, with over five decades of experience and more than 3,500 cargoes
delivered worldwide since 1977.
The initiative targets 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of
combined marketable LNG capacity by 2035, positioning Adnoc and XRG among the
world’s leading LNG players and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s role as a global energy
trading hub.
Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Adnoc Managing Director and Group CEO,
and XRG Executive Chairman, said: “With LNG demand set to grow substantially,
the world will need reliable, responsible and trusted suppliers at scale. This
world-class, integrated commercial LNG platform brings together the full
strength of Adnoc’s marketing, trading and shipping capabilities to create a
single global hub in Abu Dhabi. It marks a step-change in scale, flexibility
and optionality of our LNG marketing and trading platform and will further
position Adnoc to meet the world’s growing demand for energy.”
Rashid Al Mazrouei has been appointed Chief Marketing &
Origination Officer (LNG), responsible for overseeing marketing of the combined
LNG equity portfolios of Adnoc Gas and XRG from ADGM.
He will work closely with Adnoc Trading to centralise
long-term LNG marketing activities.
Al Mazrouei will maintain continuity across the platform,
which preserves existing Adnoc Gas commercial agreements while creating
opportunities to optimise future volumes, including from Ruwais LNG.
XRG’s expanding global portfolio, supported by offices in
London and Abu Dhabi, will also feed into the platform.
Adnoc Trading will continue as the counterparty for trading
activities, maintaining existing customer interfaces.
The company has rapidly grown into a leading global LNG
financial trader with offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Geneva.
Shipping remains a key pillar of the platform.
Adnoc Trading’s LNG shipping desk ranked among the top
global charterers in 2025, while Adnoc Logistics & Services has expanded
its LNG fleet to 20 vessels, supporting rising UAE production and global trade
flows. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
