Maharat’s 3rd batch of the upkskilling programme in China

From training workshops to national worksites, the centre envisions to be the leading training provider for the Kingdom’s industrial workforce

At the heart of Saudi Arabia’s transformation under Vision 2030 lies a vital mission: Developing a skilled national workforce capable of driving the Kingdom’s construction and industrial ambitions.

Leading this effort is the Maharat Construction Training Centre (MCTC), a not-for-profit institution redefining workforce development through innovative training and industry collaboration.

With a vision "to be the leading provider of innovative and relevant training that develops the construction workforce of Saudi Arabia", Maharat serves as a model of how vocational education can directly support national priorities.

Backed by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), Saudi Aramco, and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), Maharat aligns every programme with real market needs in construction and energy.

Maharat’s programmes are designed to meet the rigorous standards of the construction sector.

Its training portfolio includes TVTC-accredited diplomas and specialised courses in welding, safety, electrical, pipefitting, and scaffolding, all built around industry-aligned curricula and competency-based assessments.

With capacity expanding from 353 trainees in 2022 to 993 by February 2025, Maharat is equipping a new generation of Saudis to perform safely and effectively on major national projects.

Partnerships with Sinopec, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Hyundai Engineering are advancing technical training while promoting inclusive Saudisation, including initiatives that open new pathways for Saudi women in construction.

MILESTONE IN WELDING EXCELLENCE

In March 2025, Maharat achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first AWS SENSE Institution in Saudi Arabia (Schools Excelling through National Skills Standards Education).

This recognition allows Maharat to deliver internationally recognised AWS Level I and II welding certifications under AWS QC10 and QC11, raising the Kingdom’s welding standards to a global benchmark.

Building on this success, Maharat will launch automated and semi-automated welding programmes in late 2025 to support high-precision requirements in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

The centre has also secured Aramco prequalification as an approved testing centre, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and certification integrity.

DRIVING INNOVATION & SAUDISATION

Maharat’s employer-led model transforms Saudisation into a driver of productivity.

Each programme is co-designed with industry partners to ensure alignment with site standards, safety requirements, and contractor compliance.

By integrating digital learning, performance tracking, and practical skill validation, Maharat ensures training translates directly into job readiness.

Operating with values of safety, agility, transparency, and partnership, Maharat continues to set the benchmark for construction training excellence.

"We are not just developing skills; we are shaping the Kingdom’s next generation of builders," says Sami Musali, Managing Director of Maharat Construction Training Centre.

From training workshops to national worksites, Maharat is helping Saudi Arabia build — not only its infrastructure, but the skilled Saudi workforce powering its future.
