Installation of cables and pipes used to be a complicated and time consuming part of any new construction or refurbishment of industry plants.

However, with the invention of the Roxtec sealing system and the Multidiameter module the situation has greatly improved.
The Roxtec sealing system eliminates what were once common problems: The protection from a number of environment hazards, combined with an easy to use standardised, tested and certified sealing product.
The capacity of protection from a Roxtec seal is extensive. It includes the protection from anything from the spreading of smoke and fire, to the leakage of water and gas, electromagnetic disturbances, and even attacks by insects and rodents.

The Roxtec solution was born in an entrepreneurial spirit in 1990: A simple, adaptable seal that could solve the problems associated with cable and pipe entry installations and maintenance.
The founding idea is a Multidiameter sealing module with layers that can be peeled away to adjust the seal to the diameter of each individual cable or pipe. Thanks to this multi-layer technique, each module can handle a wide variety of cable and pipe diameters, reducing the need for different module sizes to just a few; a design characteristic unparalleled in other modular sealing systems.
The rest is now history. The seals have become the industry standard, and Roxtec is the largest supplier in the business.
Roxtec's current organisation includes development, manufacturing, marketing and sales in Sweden. In addition to subsidiaries in the UAE, UK, Italy, India, Brazil, Germany, China, Spain, USA and Finland, Roxtec has a worldwide network of distributors with local stocks in 70 markets.
How the system works: A Roxtec sealing module adapts to, and seals, cables and pipes of various sizes, quickly and safely. The Roxtec system's brilliance is found in its Multidiameter technology.
Conventional cable and pipe sealing systems require nearly 100 different insert modules. The Roxtec sealing system technology uses only six. This is possible because a Roxtec module is adjusted to fit a variety of cable and pipe diameters simply by peeling off sheets from its centre, completely eliminating time consuming pre-measuring of exact dimensions for existing, or planned cables.
The system's six modules cover a diameter span from 3.5 to 99.0 millimetres. The modules are inserted around cables or pipes into frames that are welded, bolted or cast into the construction. The Multidiameter modules are used together with a frame and a compression unit - the Roxtec Wedge.
This unit allows the complete sealing to be closed and opened very easily, and repeatedly for unlimited use. Such as whenever any changes need to be done to the cable or pipe routing through the Roxtec frame. The frames are available in different shapes and sizes depending on the application. Because the Roxtec sealing modules come in only six basic sizes, installation and maintenance is radically simplified. This means fewer parts to install, maintain and store.
Roxtec sealing system ensures consistent installation quality anywhere in the world. Another bonus is the system's Stock-in-the-Frame feature. Modular seals can be inserted into the sealing frame in extra numbers during installation to prepare for any additional, future cables. These modules can later be opened and adapted to fit any new cables, including preterminated cables, and then inserted into the frame again. No new modules need to be ordered. This minimises the planning, the purchasing and the installation time.
Roxtec in the Nanhai Petrochemical Plant: The idea at Roxtec is to make it as easy and simple as possible for the customers in every way. Besides providing the customers with purposeful products, it takes pride in supporting and helping the users from an engineering standpoint whenever and wherever possible.
Recently, the international team of Roxtec sales offices in the UK, Sweden, Italy, Japan and China joined forces to support the different contractors and designers throughout the Nanhai petrochem project in China.
Help with technical drawings and product specifications were provided in order for the customers to achieve a safe and highly functional standard for the sealing of routed cables and pipes. The Roxtec people assisted on site too for maximum quality. Through our global presence and coordinated international support, Roxtec provided its clients the desired back up and security.
In the power utility: The Nanhai plant is self sufficient on electrical power and ten substations are situated amongst the petrochem process areas. Roxtec is used in several places. One is to seal cables routed through the walls of the entry rooms of the concrete stations.
A standardised solution is the Roxtec G 6+6x8 frame. Inside the transformer rooms Roxtec is also used in the transformer cabinets.
Typical frames are Roxtec G 4 and G 6 and in combinations. The transits not only protect the different environments outside and inside of the transformer rooms, but help organise the cable routing effectively.
In control rooms: Simi-larly to utility rooms Roxtec is also used in the process control rooms. Here the purpose is to seal cables entering into the inside of the area. Among the demands were protection against hazards of explosion. The Roxtec transits are located at the bottom of the cabinets, and the cables enter the cabinets through the floor.
"Our goal is always to supply the perfect solution to our customers," say representatives of the international Roxtec sales team. "We talk with the customer early in a project and try to establish the requirements for the installations. In the Nanhai project we were then able to more or less standardise a selection of products from Roxtec that fit the need very well. Our experience is that this process makes it simple and safe for the customers.
"We also assist with product training in the field for installers if neccessary. Our commitment does not end at the delivery. We like to follow up on the entire quality process."
In plant buildings and cabinets: Apart from the utility areas and the main control rooms Roxtec is also installed extensively throughout the plant in buildings, generally, and in cabinets. Here, again, the combination of protection against fire, explosion, water and rodents has qualified the Roxtec products to be used wherever cables and pipes are routed from one area to the next.
