
Africa REN has completed the commercial commissioning of Walo Storage, the first photovoltaic facility in Senegal, West Africa, combined with lithium-ion battery storage.
The facility is designed for frequency regulation and local energy needs in case of grid loss.
The €40 million ($46 million) investment was financed by shareholders and debt financing.
The project has created 217 local jobs and contributed to the economic development of the Saint-Louis region.
