China’s electricity consumption is expected to reach 13,757 TWh by 2030, with a 6.3 per cent CAGR during 2024-30, according to GlobalData

The country’s real GDP is expected to rise from $2,018.8 billion in 2024 to $2,319.9 billion in 2030, driving demand for electricity.

Despite a decline in population, electricity consumption has consistently shown over 6 per cent growth in recent years.

The industrial sector dominates power consumption, followed by the residential and commercial sectors.

Emerging industries like EVs, AI, data centres, semiconductors, and 5G infrastructure are expected to drive demand for power.
