Founded in Dammam in 1968, Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company has for more than 30 years played a leading role in the construction of the national and municipal water supply and sewage networks of Saudi Arabia and its neighbours in the GCC.

In addition, by establishing production plants in the Kingdom, Amiantit has played an important part in the advancement of regional industrial development while, at the same time, making a significant contribution to the Saudi economy by reducing dependency on imports and becoming a major exporter.
Today, Amiantit is a global group of companies with 37 manufacturing facilities in 21 countries worldwide, and is internationally respected as a world class manufacturer and recognised as the industry leader in research, development and ownership of pipe manufacturing technologies.
With a group sales turn over exceeding $400 million, it is the largest manufacturer of GRP pipes and storage tanks in the world.  It is also a leading manufacturer of epoxy pipes, ductile Iron pipes, concrete cylinder pipes, pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipes, reinforced concrete pipes, cement mortar lining of steel pipes, polymer concrete pipes and thermoplastic pipes.
One of Amiantit’s greatest assets is its sole ownership of Flowtite, the most important technological process used in the manufacture of two types of pipes, glass reinforced polyester (GRP) and glass reinforced ethylene (GRE).
Flowtite(tm) pipes and fittings are used globally in pressure / gravity systems, for raw water pumping mains, drinking water supply pipelines, sewerage force mains, pipelines in waste water treatment plants, slip lining / re-lining for rehabilitation of networks, pipelines in desalination plants, pipelines in penstocks and power plants, fire hydrant lines, sub-aqueous applications, and many industrial applications.
The advantages of Amiantit Flowtite(tm) GRP products are that they are strong, durable and corrosion resistant - therefore eliminating leaks and failures - and there is no need for periodic corrosion survey and cathodic protection as is required for steel pipes and tanks.  They are also economical in terms of installation and lower power and life cycle costs.
As a strategic objective, Amiantit has recently turned its attention to the demand for corrosion resistant piping systems and storage tanks by the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, and this year has opened two full-scale production plants to meet the needs of the energy sector.
In Dammam, Amiantit Epoxy Pipe Production Plant (Amipox). a new SAR 30 million. state-of-the-art manufacturing facility produces high performance glass reinforced epoxy pipes. Amipox GRE products serve a variety of markets including industrial, oilfield, chemical, offshore, and marine. GRE pipes are lightweight, easy to transport, easy to install, and are extremely resistant to corrosion. They are used as a cost effective alternative to metallic piping which often degrades and fails due to corrosion.
Meanwhile, last March in Goa, India, the formal inauguration ceremony took place for the newly-built manufacturing facility of Amiantit Fiberglass Industries (I) Pvt. Ltd (AFIPL), a joint venture to produce glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) pipes and storage tanks using Amiantit’s Flowtite technology. AFIPL has recently achieved a double world record with the largest ever single order for 5,000 Single Wall Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) underground fuel storage tanks from Reliance Industries, one of India’s leading privately-owned petroleum companies, and production and delivery in record time of the first 2,000 tanks within only nine months. In addition, AFIPL has been awarded the contract by Dutch oil major, the Shell Group, to supply Double Wall GRP underground fuel storage tanks for Shell India and the first deliveries were made in August.  Shell India has a license to 2,000 retail outlets over the next five years.
Another world record was acheived by Amiantit Fiberglass Industries Ltd (AFIL), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company, with the production of of a four meters diameter pipe, the first to be made using an automated process. The pipe was designed and produced by the Flowtite process at the AFIL plant in Dammam.
For other projects Amiantit has supplied approximately one million longitudinal metres of pipes with various diameters for water supply networks in Spain, Argentina and Germany. In addition, several projects involving pipe diameters ranging between 3000 mm and 4000 mm have been supplied to the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bangladesh, while in Saudi Arabia, since 1982, Amiantit has been supplying 3700 mm diameter pipes for in-take and discharge of seawater for cooling purposes at the Royal Commission project in Yanbu Industrial City where the latest project utilized pipes with a total length of 11,000 linear metres.
The fact that Amiantit products are in global demand is an indication of the trust and confidence that the Company enjoys throughout the world.
