Leading upstream oil field services company, Sawafi is expanding its platform and offerings to keep pace with the evolution of the upstream market in Saudi Arabia.

For example, Sawafi has signed with Tendeka to provide the Intelligent Well Completion, to satisfy Saudi Aramco’s increasing demand for new technologies, says Faisal Alhawas, Managing Director, Sawafi.

Sawafi has developed its Oiltools Workshop into Sawafi Service Centre managed and run by Saudi professional engineers and technicians, to grow its service products including Tercel Roller Reamers, Mud Motors, Jars and Shocks and Logan Fishing Tools.

The upstream market has never been as competitive as it is today, he notes. Yet, Saudi Aramco promotes competition with no compromise on quality. Sawafi combines competitive prices and high quality, Alhawas maintains.

The company pursues new technologies to participate in Saudi Aramco’s growing operations. Sawafi’s mission is to deliver value-adding technologies that enhance production in a safe and sustainable manner. This is done keeping the highest service quality with the highest safety practices, he explains.

Sawafi was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Khalid Ali Alturki & Sons Holding Company (Alturki Holding) in 2013. Ever since, the firm markets and delivers highly differentiated technology products and their associated services to the upstream oil and gas industry in Saudi Arabia. Its technology partners are emerging oilfield products and services companies from around the world.

As new technology partner, Sawafi endeavours to introduce new solutions to optimize performance and production besides rendering cost-effective services. Sawafi acquires contracts and projects pertaining to the growing upstream operations of Saudi Aramco.

The company pitches with state-of-art services and products, covering Drilling Enhancement, Intelligent Completion Products, Artificial Lift Products, Well Characterization and Visualization, Well Real Time Survey Services and Artificial Intelligence Analytics and Alerts.

For Drilling Enhancement Services Sawafi has partnered with Rubicon Oilfield Products; Completion Products Services – Tendeka; Artificial Lift Products Services – Sawafi-Borets Joint Venture; Well Characterization and Visualization – DigiDrill; Well Real Time Survey Services - Bench Tree Group; and Artificial Intelligence Analytics and Alerts – Intellicess.

In all these high-tech areas, the challenges are to localize such services and transfer the knowledge to Sawafi’s Saudi teams and provide highly quality solutions economically to upstream’ s daily problems, he observes.

As a pioneer of the localization of the upstream sector in Saudi Arabia, Sawafi is building up its HQ Hub at SPARK, which will be operational in 2020. Such an advanced Hub will attract well reputed technology innovators to partner with Sawafi and become a regional service provider for the upstream.

Referring to Aramco’s IKTVA programme, he says it is in line with the ultimate goal for Sawafi – to localize upstream products and services. Sawafi focuses on matching the aims of IKTVA through Saudization. “As per the IKTVA programme, Sawafi is setting profound pillars to be a leading Saudi localizer by 2021,” he says.

Meanwhile, Saudi Vision 2030 forms the turning point, where unprecedented support for SMEs is presented through the National Companies Promotion Programme and SIDF (Saudi Industrial Development Fund).  The expected change is towards strategic expansion in the region, developing Centers of Excellence for transferring knowledge, localization, R&D, oilfield services, assembly and manufacturing and exporting.
