Background

Barzan Gas plant will be located in the North Field at a green-field site in Ras Laffan Industrial City, about 80 km north-east of the city of Doha. The project is being developed by a joint venture (JV) of Qatar Gas and ExxonMobil. The phase 2 of the scheme will have a capacity of 2 billion cfd.

Project Status

December 2016: Qatargas and Rasgas will merge into a single entity. After merging, the new entity will be known only as Qatargas and will operate all of Qatar’s LNG ventures. Integration process is expected to take 12 months.

The scope of the scheme involves:

• Offshore wellhead platforms

• Riser tower platform

• Intrafield pipelines

• Pipeline connecting offshore platforms to the onshore processing plant
