Background

The Master Gas System is operated by Aramco and is one of the world’s largest hydrocarbon networks, the scheme’s construction started in the mid-1970s and came online in 1982 predominantly to transport associated gas from Ghawar field to support industrialisation. To be implemented in phases, the Master Gas System Expansion project is vital for Saudi Arabia to support the development of its non-associated gas, unconventional gas and related condensate reserves.


Project Status

July 2018: Work is ongoing on the western region pipeline’s V/S level datum and radius which will help accomplish the station layout on the site.


Project Scope

The main components of the Master Gas System consist of:

• Three gas plants at Berri, Shedgum, and Uthmaniyah

• Two fractionation centers at Juaymah and Yanbu

• Yanbu industrial city


Project Finance

Saudi Aramco is the client and they plan to invest $4.05 billion in MGSE project.
