Bapco wraps up safety audit

MANAMA: Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has announced the completion of its fifth periodic occupational health and safety (OHSAS) 18001: 2007 external audit, which was done by Bureau Veritas auditors.

The audit covered departments including operations,, engineering, health safety and environment, shutdown and maintenance.



Amec wins Orpic tech contract

LONDON: Amec Foster Wheeler has won a technical services agreement contract by Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic).

The contract is for the Mina Al Fahal Refinery and Sohar Refinery, Aromatics and Polypropylene plants.



3 tankers to lift oil in Libya

BENGHAZI: Three tankers plan to lift 1.7 million barrels of crude from ports in eastern Libya, oil officials said, giving hope to the battered energy sector in the North African country.

The Opec member state’s oil sector has been hit by Islamist militant attacks and fighting between rival factions that has shut down major fields.



Acwa, Mitsui win Oman deal

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power and Japan’s Mitsui & Co said they had won a contract from Oman’s government to build and operate a $630-million, 445 megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired power plant at the city of Raysut.

The contract was won along with Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Company, which will take 10 per cent of the project, Mitsui said. The Saudi and Japanese companies will each take 45 per cent.



Mashreq storage project

CAIRO: Egypt’s Mashreq Petroleum Company is on schedule to complete the $60-million first phase of its project to store petroleum products and fuelling ships within the next two months, its chairman said.
