4m man-hours achieved
Acelebration has been held on Das island to mark a major safety achievement: the successful completion by the employees of Adgas (Abu Dhabi Gas) and its contracting companies of 4 million man hours worked on the LNG plant without any lost-time incidents (LTI).
The event was attended by Fahim Kazim, PM, Das Divisions Managers, and scores of Das employees, besides guests from ADMA-OPCO and Government Departments on the island.
The event was opened with an address by Abdullah O. Al-Zaabi, Manager HSE&I, who lauded the achievement and said it would not have been possible without the efforts of Adgas employees and contractors.
He added that Adgas General Management had a major role in achieving this landmark.
'What enhanced the work force's ability and facilitated this achievement', said Al-Zaabi, 'was due, to a great extent, to Adgas General Management team's directives regarding healthy work environment and compliance with all relevant HSE rules, standards and regulations.'
Al-Zaabi then invited Fahim Kazim, PM, to address the party on behalf of Rashid Saif Al Jarwan, GM. Kazim particularly pointed out that the Chairman of ADGAS Board of Directors, Yousef Omair Bin Yousef, and all members of the Board, had expressed their appreciation of this major achievement. Among the other topics covered in the address were new steps that would be taken shortly to enhance performance in HSE, such as the introduction of Integrity and Reliability Department to improve efficiency standards and enhance the plant's reliability, eventually contributing to better HSE performance. Another project that would be introduced to promote HSE awareness among employees is the monthly 'HSE Quiz.'
Also mentioned was Adgas' efforts to obtain the ISO 14001, which are moving smoothly and successfully. Also under way is revamping Adgas HSEMS in line with Adnoc's HSEMS guidelines and expectations.
The next target the staff were encouraged to work to achieve is the 8 million hours to be worked without any LTI.
In addition to celebrating the 4 million man hours worked without LTI, the party was utilised to honor a number of Das Departments that had completed one-year work without any LTI. These were: Das Plant Management, HSE Department, Operations Department, Production Support Department and Laboratory Department.
It was also announced during the party that the employees of Adgas and its contracting companies achieved a zero lost time frequency rate, which is another HSE milestone.
At the end of the ceremony, over 100 complimentary gifts were handed out, by lot, to some fortunate Abu Dhabi and Das employees.
