BJ Tubular Services, a leading provider of pressure pumping systems in the region, announced the introduction of the Conductor Torquing System, a new system that offers dramatically improved safety and operational efficiency when making up or breaking out conductor-threaded connections.
Effective make-up and break-out of threaded conductor connections are critical to the success of every conductor (pile) driving operation.
Following years in development by BJ Tubular Services, the Conductor Torquing System has been successfully tested and proven to the highest standard. With a spinner system that delivers 7,000 lbs per ft. BJ’s Conductor Torquing System is also the first of its kind to deliver torques of 150,000 lbs per ft. As a result, conductor connection make-up and breakout, and driving operations are carried out more efficiently.
Safety benefits
With its Conductor Torquing System (patent pending), BJ Hammer Services offers the ultimate solution to every operator’s conductor-threaded connection make-up and break-out needs. This state-of-the-art system ensures that the practice of spinning, final make-up and break-out of threaded conductor connections are safer operations.
The Conductor Torquing System is a major step forward, offering two important benefits. To increase efficiency and safety, the Conductor Torquing System is designed to operate remotely at extremely high torque levels. “Because only one technician is required to operate the unit from a control unit at a distance, personnel aren’t required to work in close proximity to the rotary table,” said Andy Penman, hammer services manager for BJ Tubular Services. “As a result, running costs are lower because fewer personnel are required and working conditions are much safer,” he added.
Handled with care
To ensure that the pipe and its protective coating are never damaged, BJ made certain that the Conductor Torquing System and spinner are non-marking systems designed to handle pipe with special care. In addition, the make-up system is consolidated into one simple unit, so there is no need to invest time and manpower to assemble the unit before carrying out a make-up or break-out operation.
BJ Tubular Services’ hammer services specialists drive conductors and pipe into the earth for a wide range of concerns: to create a foundation for a new oil or gas well on or offshore. BJ also drives large piles for the purpose of constructing buildings or bridges.
Keen to develop a niche in the growing hammer services market, BJ Tubular Services performed its first-ever hydraulic hammer conductor driving operation in 1995 in the Netherlands.
Since then, the division has delivered more than 525 single-slot hydraulic hammer conductor and caisson driving operations world-wide, in Europe, Latin America, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Trinidad, the Middle East and West Africa.
With the 2003 acquisition of hydraulic and diesel hammer services specialist Petro-Drive and Cajun Tubular Services of Louisiana, BJ Tubular Services is actively expanding its range of casing and tubing running, and hammer services capabilities into the Gulf of Mexico oil and gas market.
BJ Tubular Services specialises in personnel and equipment for running casing and tubing, particularly premium connections, high chrome content tubulars, dual, triple and sub-sea completions, as well as hydraulic hammer conductor and caisson driving services.
