Hopkinson ... crucial role

Element Materials Technology has broadened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Matt Hopkinson as its new executive vice president (EVP) for the Oil & Gas and Infrastructure sector.

Hopkinson brings a wealth of testing experience and leadership to Element. He most recently served as senior vice president, Commodities - Europe at Bureau Veritas, an international certification agency. After starting his career at the British Standards Institute, Hopkinson joined Inspectorate, working internationally in the Americas in a number of operational and commercial roles, eventually heading up their global oil services business. Hopkinson joins the Element executive team and will report directly to president and CEO, Charles Noall.

Noall commented: "Our Oil & Gas and Infrastructure team is the leading provider of high quality testing services worldwide. We are beginning to see some early signs of a limited recovery in the oil and gas market and the addition of Matt to the senior leadership team will ensure that we are fully prepared for this market development and to support the much wider geography and service portfolio we have in place today. His ability to deliver results, alongside his deep knowledge of the testing sector, will play a crucial role in helping us realise our vision to become the world’s most trusted testing partner."

Hopkinson said: "I am proud to be joining a business of the caliber of Element. Having witnessed the company’s extraordinary transformation over the past few years, I look forward to working closely with my colleagues in the leadership team and across the organisation to lead Element into a new phase of success."

Hopkinson assumed his new role on January 1, 2019. Former EVP for Oil & Gas and Infrastructure, Dr Rod Martin, has taken on a new senior leadership role as vice president – Technology for the Oil & Gas and Infrastructure sector. Martin will focus on further developing the sector’s technical strategy and broadening the relationship between customers, technology and operations.
