DAVE Hawley has been appointed as ABB’s local business unit manager for motors and generators in the UK.
The UK business unit is responsible for the sales of ABB’s motors and generators through direct and indirect channels as well as ABB lifecycle services and tools across a wide range of commercial and industrial sectors.
Hawley is qualified in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of South Wales, and has over 15 years’ experience of the rotating equipment industry. He joins ABB from Sulzer Dowding and Mills where he was the general manager of the formed coil division, and prior to that he held a divisional director position at Deritend.
Hawley will report to Neil Ritchie, local division manager, Discrete Automation and Motion and will be based at ABB’s head office in Daresbury, Warrington.
“It has always been an ambition to join a global market leader with class leading products and expertise,” says Hawley. “The range of motors and generators from ABB has grown considerably and is more advanced than ever, with new technological innovations and increasing efficiency levels giving them real appeal to end users and OEMs, to drive their businesses forward.
“The innovative synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) technology from ABB is one example of this, and offers customers the most efficient solution for their businesses along with a significant reduction on energy costs while also improving production efficiency,” adds Hawley.
“Higher power ratings and improved, more efficient designs in generator technology has seen ABB bring higher-powered solutions to customers in a smaller footprint, with tailored control packages allowing for maximum energy efficiency and maximum reliability.
