Background
The project calls for the construction of a 240-kilometre long gas pipeline to link the Saih Nihayda gas field to the Duqm Special Economic Zone on Oman’s central Wusta coast. The pipeline will have a diameter of 36 inches and have a capacity of 25 million cubic meters per day. The pipeline will feed the Duqm refinery, which will be the first gas consumer at the zone. The pipeline is also set to fuel demand for power and water production facilities, heavy industries, cement and mineral processing ventures, metal industries, and a host of other energy-intensive ventures expected to come up at Duqm. The gas supply will come from BP’s Khazzan project.

October 2017: Construction of the pipeline is going behind the schedule with only 8 per cent of the pipeline completed so far.
