Iraq expects its oil exports to increase by 110,000 barrels per day (bpd) this month and aims to boost sales by at least another 200,000 bpd by the end of the year, a top Iraqi oil official said.
Shamkhi Faraj, director-general of Economics and Oil Marketing, said exports could even jump by 400,000 bpd if Kirkuk oil could flow uninterrupted through the northern pipeline to Turkey – plagued by relentless post-war sabotage.
Exports in September are set to swell to 1.6 million bpd versus 1.49 million in August, enhanced by sales of three million barrels from the northern Kirkuk oilfields.
