

A "no venting, no flaring" policy has been established by Banagas whereby all available gas is processed in a safe manner with minimum risk to the environment.
Furthermore, the Company goals address the environment through "sustaining safe and secure operational practices" and "accepting responsibility for the protection of the environment in all aspects of operation".
Specific measures to protect the environment have been implemented including the monitoring of raw materials, liquids and solid waste and controls on emissions and noise.
In coordination with the Environment Affairs Directorate a contract was signed in 1999 between Banagas and an international consultant to study environmental issues in certain areas of Bahrain.
The project, funded entirely by the Company, provided recommendations that will further protect the environment for the benefit of all.
Suggestion scheme
Since the start its of operations, the Company has had a Suggestion Scheme, which concentrates on safety issues, improves quality and productivity in the workplace and eliminates waste.
Factors that have contributed to the success of the scheme include full management support and prompt and effective recognition of employees participating in the scheme.
Productivity
In order to constantly improve operations, the Company has an ongoing Productivity Improvement Study Team which has led to significant savings and improved work practices throughout the Company.
Continuous improvement
The Company has implemented a continuous improvement strategy with greater employee involvement and teamwork as its foundation. This has resulted in a greater sense of responsibility at all levels.
Management has also taken every opportunity to recognise the employees' role in improving the Quality Management System and in encouraging a Continuous Improvement Culture throughout the Company.
