Bapco president Dr Mustafa Al Sayed received international recognition, having been selected as Man of the Year 2005 in the petrochemical sector.

Dr Al Sayed was congratulated for being selected Man of the Year for the petrochemical sector in an international conference in Romania, in recognition for his work in the field of petrochemical and chemical fertiliser as a president of Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), vice-president of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) and 17 years' service with GPIC, where he contributed to the development of this important sector.
A gathering of 300 top leaders of the industry selected Dr Al Sayed as Man of the Year for 2005.
The Award Certificate reads, "In recognition of his distinction and outstanding leadership in his time as president of Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), vice-president of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) and General Manager of GPIC, Dr Mustafa Al Sayed is honoured for his philosophy and ideals, especially his principled concern for the environment and for the well-being of all those who work for him, which inspired a unique culture of excellence in his company which brought it commercial success in a fiercely competitive market and providing a model to which all industries throughout the world should aspire."
In response, Dr Al Sayed expressed his appreciation for the recognition and confirmed his commitment to the development of the petrochemical sector, though he has moved to the oil business, as President of Bapco.
He thanked the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the shareholders of GPIC and its Chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Sabic of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, PIC of Kuwait, and the management and employees of GPIC for their excellent support and team work.
