DOPET (Doha Petroleum Construction Co Ltd), one of the largest contracting companies in Qatar and an Emerson business partner, and Emerson Process Management, a global business of Emerson offering the most innovative and broadest array of process automation solutions, have launched a new service facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
The new facility was built with an initial investment of $3 million. The service facility will be managed by Emerson Process Management, with Dopet owning and running the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) business. In addition, part of the facility will be utilised as Emerson office space.
The facility will support Emerson’s end-users in Ras Laffan Industrial City by providing comprehensive services for Fisher control valves, the DeltaV digital automation system, Rosemount measurement technologies and Rosemount Analytical analysers and sensors. The building will also have a dedicated training room for engineering and maintenance courses.
Amir Khouzani, general manager for Dopet operations says: “Having worked with Emerson Process Management as their local business partners in Qatar for the past 12 years, the opening of this jointly managed service facility demonstrates our strong commitment to the existing customer base as well as the building of our capacity to grow our business further. Qatar’s rapid growth and globalisation in recent years has necessitated a commitment to providing high-quality products and services and this facility enables Emerson to support the increasingly sophisticated needs of our customers.”
Commenting on the launch of the new facility, Dave Tredinnick, president of Emerson Process Management, Middle East & Africa, says: “Emerson Process Management is committed to the Middle East, with facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, Basra, Manama, Al Khobar and in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. We are determined to align ourselves with the specific requirements of all our customers by making the resources available to meet local needs in every market where we have a significant presence. Qatar is a very good example in this regard and Emerson has already made major investments in Qatar to support the capital investment stage for many projects that were executed in the country.”
Branko Pecar, general manager for Emerson Process Management in Qatar adds: “Emerson Process Management believes in the principle that drives companies to think globally but act locally. Now is the time to support the operational needs for all our customers and this can only be achieved through a local presence.
Our customers in Qatar need to maintain their operations in the most agile way and a locally-based Emerson Process Management facility demonstrates our serious commitment to offering easily accessible and reliable services to ensure full customer plant availability. Our customers in Qatar deserve world-class support and this is exactly what we are committed to delivering.”
The new facility is unique in its location in that it is positioned inside the Ras Laffan Industrial City, thus eliminating the need for equipment gate passes to move in and out of the industrial area. This will significantly reduce entry and exit paperwork for the Industrial City, enabling clients to have their work serviced and inspected much more quickly and efficiently.
