Background
Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) plans to construct a new 290 km pipeline connecting Sohar and Muscat refineries in Oman. The pipeline, located near the Muscat highway, will reduce the heavy fuel tanker traffic in Muscat by 70 per cent. The project will increase the storage capacity for diesel, petrol and connect the current storage facilities in Sohar and Mina al Fahal to meet the growing demands.

May 2015: Tebodin has been awarded the project management consultancy (PMC) contract.
Project scope
The Muscat-Sohar Product Pipeline (MSPP) will be implemented in 3 phases.
• Phase I includes construction of a pipeline connecting the Muscat International Airport and the Mina al Fahal Refinery by the main storage facility at Muscat
• Phase II involves construction of 297 km pipeline that connects the Mina al Fahal Refinery and the Sohar Refinery, and the construction of an intermediate storage facility in Muscat
• Phase III involves the construction of an additional strategic storage facility that have 12 tanks with the capacity of more than 170,000 cubic metres in Jifnain.
