Al Jaber named GM, Adnoc
ABU DHABI: The UAE has appointed Sultan Al-Jaber as general manager for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), the government said in statement. The decree was issued by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahayan, who is also the ruler of Abu Dhabi, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council said.
BASF pumps $4bn in Iran
IRAN: Germany-based BASF, a leading chemical company, has announced plans to invest around $4 billion in Iran’s petrochemical industry, a report said. The negotiations are underway with BASF to construct a petrochemical township in southern Iran, Marziyeh Shahdani, managing director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), was quoted as saying in The Iran Project report.
Dubai Petroleum stable
DUBAI: Dubai Petroleum said a gas leak had occurred at its offshore Fateh oilfield but that the situation was now stable. The source of the gas leak was at an area where a previous fire had occurred in 1975 and was dealt with immediately and in a safe manner, state news agency WAM said quoting a company statement.
Saudi to supply Egypt
CAIRO: Saudi Arabia will supply Egypt with a monthly 800,000 tonnes of petroleum products for three months starting in February, an official from the Egyptian state oil board said. “Saudi Arabia is giving us 180,000 tonnes of gasoline, 150,000 tonnes of fuel oil and 470,000 tonnes of diesel,” the EGPC official said, declining to be named. Saudi Arabia has promised to help to meet Egypt’s petroleum needs for the next five years.
GE eyes business in Iran
TEHRAN: General Electric (GE) is exploring potential business opportunities in Iran and the chief executive of its oil and gas division visited the country recently, a company spokeswoman said.
The visit by Lorenzo Simonelli, CEO of GE Oil & Gas, comes at a time when Iran is aiming to boost its crude oil exports and recover the oil market share it lost as a result of international sanctions imposed over its nuclear programme.
Oman Oil, BP sign deal
LONDON: Britain’s BP and partner Oman Oil have signed an agreement to develop a second phase of the Khazzan natural gas field, taking the estimated investment in the project to $16 billion, the company said. The agreement with the government of Oman will add more than 1,000 sq km to the original 2,700 sq km block, which is expected to start delivering gas in late 2017, BP said.
QP to supply jet fuel
DOHA: Qatar Petroleum (QP) has awarded a contract to supply jet fuel from its Ras Laffan Industrial City to Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha, Qatar, a report said. The EPIC contract was awarded to the joint venture of Consolidated Contractors group & Teyseer Contracting Company.
