
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia recorded a 9 per cent decreased in oil activities in 2023, including a 9.4 per cent decrease in crude petroleum and natural gas activities and 7.4 per cent decrease in petroleum refining activities, according to data released General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
The Kingdom saw a 4.4 per cent growth in non-oil activities during the year. Mining and quarrying activities also grew 5.7 per cent
Overall, the real GDP decreased by 0.8 per cent in 2023 compared to 2022. Saudi Arabia’s GDP at current prices was SR4,003 billion ($1 trillion) last year.
Crude petroleum and natural gas activities were still the highest contributors, amounting to 25.4 per cent, followed by government services (15.7 per cent), wholesale and retail trade, restaurants and hotels activities (9.7 per cent), manufacturing, excluding petroleum refining (8.8 per cent), petroleum refining (6 per cent), and real estate (5.9 per cent).
