Bapco has been granted full certification as an approved port facility under the new requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, after an audit by the Regulatory Authority for the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Following world events, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) adopted new regulations to enhance maritime security.
This enhancement was made through amendments to the Safety Of Life At Sea (Solas) Convention. Accordingly, shipping companies, ship owners and port facilities were mandated to comply with the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, effective July 1, 2004.
Bapco, as operator of the Sitra Wharf, accordingly developed documented procedures and conducted training of operating and security personnel to meet the requirements of the ISPS Code.
The Regulatory Authority for Bahrain carried out an audit on Bapco's compliance with the requirements of the above code and has granted full certification as an approved port facility under the requirements of the Code.
