KCC provides solutions to the refining industry

Kuwait Catalyst Company (KCC) is a Kuwaiti shareholding (closed) company, formed in December 1996 by a group of local and international investors with an objective of providing complete catalytic solutions to the regional refining industry and to satisfy the requirement of catalyst used in the crude oil refining process.

With a technological arrangement with Japan Energy Corporation, the company has built a state-of-the-art catalyst manufacturing plant at Shuaiba Industrial area in Kuwait.
Located within the vicinity of the refineries of Kuwait and with proximity to the refineries of Arab countries, the catalyst plant has a production capacity of 5,000 MTPA. The plant, equipped with latest, automatic, digital process control and manufacturing management systems, commenced its commercial production in the year 2001.
Kuwait Catalyst Company is focused to serve the oil and gas industry of the region and committed to provide environmentally and commercially sound solutions to its clients.
Its business objectives include manufacturing and marketing hydro-treating, hydrocracking and other types of catalysts for the refining and petrochemical industry.
The company provides comprehensive and expert technical advice, support and services including performance guarantee, performance models, spent catalyst analysis, pilot plant testing, catalyst loading and performance monitoring.
It is engaged in ongoing research and development to provide quality products to its clients, keeping in pace with technological developments of the industry.
Kuwait Catalyst Company seeks to execute all the associated and incidental activities related to catalyst business, including transportation, shipping, loading and unloading of reactors and after sales service.
It sets up spent catalyst processing plants, process spent catalysts and reclaim catalytic metals on a commercial scale and reform other constituents for safer disposal, handling , storage and transportation.
The company manufactures and markets various types of water treatment chemicals for the applications in boilers, steam generators, hot water networks, super-heaters, heat exchangers, turbines, cooling systems, air scrubbers and humidifiers.
Kuwait Catalyst Company has a pool of qualified management and technical staff, handpicked from their designated trade. Drawing upon decades of refinery, petrochemical and industrial experience, a team of specialists is working with the company. The company is continuously exerting its efforts to unleash the potential of its hi-tech human recourses by providing in-house training, training from the technology supplier and deputing to other regional and international conferences.
The catalyst plant built by Kuwait Catalyst Company is the only catalyst plant in the entire region that manufactures catalyst for the crude oil refining process. The plant is licensed to produce hydro-treating and hydro-cracking catalysts under the technology license from Japan Energy Corporation.
The plant is designed, supervised construction and commissioned by the Japanese licensor. The exclusive engineering and design, with latest, automatic, digital process control and manufacturing management systems is the main appeal of the catalyst plant.
The hi-tech plant consists of two production trains, kneading, extrusion, drying and calcining components, utility systems, waste gas treatment system, waste water treatment system, laboratory and pilot plant, material warehouse.
The plant utilises the most recent, commercially proven, high performance 'HOP' catalyst technology provided by the international licensors who have long recognised R&D capabilities.
KCC is cognisant of the fact that the catalyst industry develops at a rapid pace and technology is improving. The cornerstone of KCC's long-term strategy is to provide its clients with latest, innovative and high performance products with advanced technology.
Kuwait Catalyst Company is thoughtful of the technology life cycle and through its continuous R&D programmes it is poised to provide products and services of impeccable quality to its valued customers. The steadfast commitment to the industry has necessitated KCC to implement continuous research programme for development of new products and new processes. In addition to KCC's own research and development capabilities, it uses the R&D services of reputed research institutes locally and internationally. A substantial amount of money has been invested in this direction and a premium of its annual sales is set apart towards this vital research and development work.
Quality control is the essence of a superior quality product. KCC has invested heavily on quality management and quality control. A team of highly qualified quality control engineers supervises the entire process of manufacturing and testing in conformity with the licensor's pre-specified formulations and the process conditions coupled with stringent control & testing.
The licensor-specified values are achieved by controlling operating conditions by advanced DCS, metal concentration in solutions, metal content in the catalyst, surface area, pore volume, bulk density, pallet dimensions, fines and water stability.
KCC is an ISO certified company under ISO 9001-200 Quality Management system and practices ISO 14001 for Environmental Management System.
Spent catalyst generated by the refineries is an environmental threat and the authorities raise concern over removal, handling, transportation, storage and safe disposal of spent catalyst all over the world.
The refineries of the region combat this dilemma and make a great effort to dispose of the used catalyst. With the expected increase in catalyst consumption in the region and regulated laws and enactments, KCC committed itself to alleviate the regional environmental threat and lighten the spent catalyst burden carried by its valued customer.
With its 8000 MTPA Spent Catalyst Processing and Safe disposal Plant, KCC provides a complete and environmentally compatible solution by reclaiming catalytic metals on a commercial scale and safely reform other constituents in the spent catalyst. Its sophisticated facility, utilises the latest spent catalyst processing technology from an internationally reputed spent catalyst partner.
KCC will manufacture and supply the fresh catalyst to the refining process and take back the spent catalyst from the refineries for processing and reclaiming the catalytic metals and safe disposal and thus fulfill its obligation to the industry.
Through a partnership agreement between KCC and the Swiss company, Filtro SA, KCC's chemical plant is the only plant outside Europe to produce Helamin, an environmentally compatible multi-component water treatment system.
A scale and corrosion inhibitor and oxygen scavenger used in water and steam carrying system Helamin has many advantages over conventional water conditioning programmes including reduction in operating costs and maintenance. It has applications in steam generators, warm and hot water networks, super heaters, turbines, cooling systems, air scrubbers and humidifiers.
