Refinery startup is delayed to 2005

HANOI: State oil company PetroVietnam said the country's first oil refinery would not be operational until the middle of 2005 instead of next year due to difficulties in the tendering process for subcontracts.

Ethylene output falls

TOKYO: Japan's production of ethylene in September fell 5.2 per cent from a year earlier to 574,000 tonnes, preliminary figures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed.

CAIRO: Egypt's crude oil production rose slightly in September to 624,400 barrels per day from 624,194 bpd in August, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) said.

TOKYO: State-run Yemen Oil and Gas Corp has issued a tender to sell Masila and Marib crude grades for November lifting, traders said.

Adnoc move

SINGAPORE: Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc) said it had raised the retroactive official selling prices for its crudes by $1.55 to $1.60 per barrel for September.

Prices cut

LONDON:ÊSaudi Arabia has cut its November crude oil prices to Europe by 40-50 cents while prices for cargoes destined for the United States were raised by 20-45 cents, traders said.

Qatar plan

TOKYO: Qatar has cut its retroactive September crude price for Qatar Land by one cent per barrel, while raising Qatar Marine by three cents

compared to August, traders said.

OSP lowered

LONDON: Syria's Sytrol has lowered its proposal for October official selling prices (OSP) for the Souedie heavy grade by 25 cents, traders said.

SEOUL: Saudi Arabia has lifted the November price formula for most of its crude grades to Asia by 35 to 45 cents per barrel but has cut prices for its Arab Medium and Heavy crudes, South Korean and Japanese traders said.

Formosa signs gasoline deal

SINGAPORE: Taiwan's private refiner Formosa Petrochemical Corp has concluded deals to supply about 480,000 tonnes of 92-octane gasoline for one year from this month, traders said.

TOKYO: Tonen General Sekiyu KK has shut down a 130,000 barrel-per-day crude (bpd) distillation unit (CDU) at its Wakayama refinery for a 25-day planned maintenance shut down, industry sources said.
