Saudi Maritime Congress will address resilience and digitisation

The Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress 2024 is poised to be a significant event, drawing thousands of shipping professionals to Dammam from September 18-19. The Transport General Authority (TGA) emphasises that the congress offers invaluable networking opportunities across various industry levels.

Essam Alammari, TGA's Deputy for Maritime Transport, highlights the remarkable 95 per cent attendance in 2023, showcasing the event as a vital platform for exchanging innovative ideas among industry leaders, policymakers, and academics.

Key players such as Mawani, Bahri, and Aramco are actively involved, signifying strong support from industry giants in shaping discussions on the future of shipping.

The agenda will tackle pressing topics including supply chain resilience, digitisation, sustainability, and automation.

The congress not only serves regional interests but has expanded its global reach, prompting the addition of an extra exhibition hall to accommodate a record number of local and international exhibitors.

Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the congress will explore progress in establishing Saudi Arabia as a regional logistics hub, with the TGA engaging internationally to strengthen global connectivity.

In 2024, Saudi Arabia ranked 16th out of 187 nations by UNCTAD, reflecting efforts to enhance its maritime capabilities and capitalise on its strategic location.

With expectations of over 10,000 participants from over 70 countries and more than 200 exhibitors, the congress aims to foster cooperation between public and private sectors, ultimately driving economic growth in Saudi Arabia.

Chris Morley, Group Director of Seatrade Maritime, emphasises the congress’s role in creating substantial value for all attendees and contributing to the Kingdom’s economic landscape.
