Safe workplace for employees

Amid growing environmental concerns, Sabic engineered and built plants using modern designs and equipment to minimise their environmental impact.

Pollution control measures were accorded top priority, along with employee safety and health. In subsequent years, Sabic continued to upgrade safety, health and environment (SHE) systems in accordance with, and in anticipation of, regulatory requirements and global developments.
It continually seeks new ways to enhance the environmental performance of manufacturing operations and to protect the air, water and soil surrounding the industries. Through regular environmental audits, Sabic monitors and minimises the ecological impact of the industries by identifying SHE areas that can be improved.
Sabic strives to strike a balance between economic and environmental considerations. This involves working closely with stakeholders in their operations: government agencies, international financial organisations, customers, suppliers, contractors, employees and the community.
Sabic is a global organisation, blessed with a wealth of resources. As a responsible corporation, it has an obligation to manage these resources in a manner that provides a safe, healthy and rewarding workplace for employees and optimise the contribution to the Saudi Arabian economy.
Sabic operates in petrochemical, chemical, fertiliser and metal industry sectors, where it recognises activities and the impact of products on the environment. It will take all reasonable measures to manage these impacts. In practice, it will integrate environmental considerations with other business priorities.
Besides, it will systematically identify, prevent or minimise key environmental impacts of the operations and products, acting in particular on opportunities to prevent pollution.
Sabic will appropriately train and educate the management and employees and promote environmental awareness among suppliers, contractors, customers and other stakeholders on environmental issues.
Complying with applicable regulatory and other corporate requirements and relevant international agreements are among other things.
It sets objectives for continual improvement of the environmental performance and insist that senior management be held accountable for achieving these objectives.
Sabic will implement management systems consistent with its environmental manual and seek third party certification to ISO-14001.
It also encourages key business partners to implement environmental policies and requirements that are consistent with those of Sabic and conform to internationally-recognised environmental management standards.
Sabic regularly evaluates the environmental management and performance of business units, affiliate companies and key business partners and report publicly on its achievements.
